True Blue Swimland - Buffalo Run

The Buffalo Run location of True Blue Swimland is a Tenant Improvement of an existing CRU bay, made challenging by incorporation of pool systems, forms, and interior waterproofing measures to design within the limits of an existing shopping centre commercial bay.

True Blue Swimland’s first Calgary area pool, located in the Buffalo Run Shopping Centre on Tsuu T’ina Nation, is a small footprint swim school for young children to learn how to swim. The project required extensive design and consideration above what is normally required for standard tenant improvements, including demolition of the entire existing slab within the space, and replacing it with concrete that slopes to drains and the pool form. Additional time was spent throughout the project reviewing and researching design solutions with the client to optimize the layout of the limited area and to create the most durable and long-lasting facility with the client’s experience with the business model and corrosive environments.
